Black Gown Made Mandatory

Under the newly approved guidelines, teachers will be required to wear a black academic gown during school hours while performing their teaching duties.

Officials say the gown is intended to represent academic dignity, professionalism, and equality within the education system. However, teachers are expected to wear the gown over appropriate and modest clothing that aligns with cultural and ethical standards.

Recommended Attire Guidelines

The notification also provides general dress recommendations:

  • Male teachers may wear plain shalwar kameez in sober colors or a pant-shirt combination, along with closed shoes or strapped sandals.

  • Female teachers are advised to wear dignified attire consistent with social norms, paired with closed shoes or modest footwear.

The aim, according to officials, is to promote a uniform professional appearance across public schools.

Implementation and Monitoring

School heads will be responsible for daily compliance, while Chief Executive Officers at the district level will monitor overall implementation.

Authorities have been directed to treat the matter as a priority and ensure full adherence to the new policy.

Final Note

The introduction of a standardized dress code reflects the provincial government’s effort to reinforce discipline and professionalism in the public education sector. Schools across Punjab are now preparing to implement the changes in the coming days.
